Many of you will already know that I invest in property across the North of England and yet live here in Surrey, very much in the south!
One of my local property friends asked me just last week how this is possible given the fact that I can’t just jump in the car and pop around the corner should a problem arise. I’ve been asked this countless times before and yet the answer for me is simple; I’m a property investor and not a landlord. I see it as a positive rather than a negative that I live so far from the properties I own as it stops me from being tempted to get involved in the day to day ‘stuff’ that would waste my time and eat into my day!
As a property investor, I see this as a business and therefore don’t see it as an efficient use of my time to be dealing with sourcing, refurbing and tenanting properties and the associated issues that undoubtedly arise from time to time. These are things I can pay other people to do relatively cheaply and by outsourcing all the ‘admin’ based parts of property, I can free up my time to look at building my property business and therefore my income from my portfolio. For me that’s a no-brainer!
